Harvesting Wild Rice

Wild Rice is also called Canada Rice, Indian Rice and Water Oats.

Wild Rice is not related (but are close cousins) to the rice grain. Wild Rice is a species of grass in which the grain can be harvested.

Wild Rice has a chewy outer sheath with a tender inner grain that pops out when cooked.

When cooking with Wild Rice, I will usually add small amounts of it to complement other grains.
